???????????????????????????????????? Andreas Beckmann

As Managing Director of the WWF-International Danube-Carpathian Programme (www.panda.org/dcpo), Andreas Beckmann is responsible for leading and coordinating the global conservation organisation’s work across 10 countries of Central and Southeastern Europe, including Romania, Bulgaria, Hungary, Slovakia, Serbia and Ukraine. He is currently also serving as interim coordinator for WWF programme offices in Europe, overseeing WWF’s work in the Caucasus, Western Balkans and Mediterranean. Before coming to work for WWF in 2001, Andreas spent 10 years living and working in Prague, the last five years managing communications and development as well as regional coordination for the Environmental Partnership (www.environmentalpartnership.org), a consortium of foundations in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, Hungary, Romania and Bulgaria. Andreas serves on a number of boards of directors, including the Czech Environmental Partnership Foundation, Greenpeace Czech Republic, WWF-Hungary, WWF-Romania, WWF-Bulgaria, the WWF-Mediterranean Programme and the newly established WWF-Adria. Andreas has studied History, Politics and International Relations at Stanford University (cand PhD, MA) and Swarthmore College (BA with High Honors) in the US, the University of Köln in Germany (Fulbright Scholarship), and in Moscow and holds a certificate in conservation leadership from the WWF Conservation College. He is currently completing an MBA in Circular Economy at Bradford University. Born in 1968, Andreas is married to the artist Lena Knilli and is the father of two daughters, Lucie Jo and Isa Franziska Knilli.
